Trifextra #100: The First Time I Saw…

The first time I saw you, so small in my hand, I felt joy, fear, love. You have grown now. Where life will take you, I don’t know. Just know, for all my faults, I love you, son.

Word Count: 38

For Trifextra Week 100. This week:

We are asking for a 33-word response to the following snippet:

The first time I saw. . .

Here’s the catch: all of your 33 words must be one syllable each.  We’re going low-brow on your this week.  Or not.  Can you class it up under these restrictions?  Give us your best.

To clarify, we are giving you 5 words.  We want another 33 from you, for a grand total of 38.

Head over to Trifecta and check out the other responses to the prompt. Feel free to join in!

Hope you enjoy.

Happy Reading and Writing!

Trifextra 99: Three-Word Resolution

This week at Trifextra, the prompt is inspired by Michael Hess and his three-word New Year’s Resolution: Just be nice. This week the crew at Trifecta have to come up with their own three word resolutions. Here’s mine:

Do my best.

Hope everyone has a great 2014!

Trifextra Week 98: Someone’s Getting Coal

Teddy couldn’t wait for Christmas day,

so sister helped him steal Santa’s sleigh.

Teddy could not fly it,

and the world threw a fit,

when the presents went to Paraguay!

Trifextra time! In the new format, the crew over at Trifecta alternate the challenge each week. This week is the 33-word Trifextra prompt. The prompt: Charles Dickens, in A Christmas Carol, wrote “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.” We are giving you exactly 33 words to make us laugh out loud and spread some festive cheer.

I decided to try yet another new poetry form this week, the limerick. Hope you enjoy.

Head on over to Trifecta and read some great writers take on the prompt. Feel free to join in the fun!

Happy Reading and Writing!

Trifextra Week 97: Ghosts

“New basin, Raz-a-Dazzle toothbrush, onesies and blankets for donation.”

Our house sits empty. His zeal to escape turns him myopic.

He’d leave me if he could, but his guilt holds him.

I’m alone.

Trifextra Week 97. This weeks challenge: add 30 of our own words to myopic, dazzle, and basin. Head on over to Trifecta and read some wonderful writers. The weekends are usually 33 word bites that are quick to read and digest. Feel free to join in the fun with your own offering.

Happy Reading and Writing!

Trifextra Week 96: Old Enemy

I stare at it.

It sits, staring back.

One stupid comment, and she’s gone.

My thumb caresses well-worn aluminum without thought.

I stop it, and my shaking hand reaches for the bottle.

Alone.

Trifextra time! This weekend we are assuming that many of you are slogging your way through leftovers and family bickering (or is that just us?) and thus we’re going way easy on you.  This weekend we are asking for a 33-word free write.  Give us whatever you’ve got.

Head over to Trifecta and immerse yourself in the worlds of some great writers. If you’re feeling frisky, join in the fun! Hope your holidays are good and may your future days be even better!

Happy Reading and Writing!
